Lean Enterprise Overview and Simulation

Course Outline:

This course includes an introduction to the Lean Toolkit and concludes with a 3-4 hour simulation where class attendees will build PVC Goal Posts.  The course will cover:

  • The Major Obstacles to Change and how to address them
  • Managing resistance to change in your organization
  • The 10 Commandments of Lean
  • The TPS House as a model for Lean
  • Identifying and eliminating the 7 Wastes in your organization
  • Using 5S to reduce waste in processes
  • Why use kaizen to implement Lean?
  • Review of other Lean implementation approaches
  • Participate in live simulation and experience a Lean transformation
  • What Lean means for the factory and for the total enterprise

Learning Objectives:

Participants will, upon completion of this course, successfully demonstrate their ability to:

  • Explain the benefits of a culture embracing Lean
  • Determine the necessary steps to initialize your company’s Lean Transformation
  • Describe the 7 Wastes and identify them in your organization
  • Recognize and describe the benefits of 5S to your organization
  • Describe your first-hand experience of converting to One Piece Flow in a process

This course provides an introduction to Lean concepts and explains the need for such concepts in your organization.  You will be exposed to stories of real implementations performed by Gemba consultants.  The "Goal Post" Simulation will show you the dramatic impact that can be made with simple changes in a Lean manufacturing implementation.  You will be able to:
