Course Outline:
This course is a "teach & do" format where you will learn in class how to create a Business Process Map, then walk through and observe an actual transactional business process in an office. The appropriate Lean office principles will be taught along the way as you team to document the current state, identify the wastes, draw a future state and create an improvement plan:
- Business Process Mapping overview
- Types of Business Process Mapping tools and when to use them
- Draw a SIPOC diagram
- Draw a Process Map / Swim Lane Map
- Draw a Flow Chart for a Business Process
- The 10 steps of Value Stream Mapping
- Draw a current state map (paper exercise & actual business process)
- Direct Process Observation
- Identify the 7 types of waste
- Discuss the 10 questions for future state mapping
- Identify Lean office metrics: Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost opportunities
- Create an improvement plan to achieve the future state
