Children's Hospital of Saskatchewan - Getting Lean
The Kaizen Institute consulting teams from the USA and Canada collaborated in a project to transform how hospitals design and build their facilities. Unlike warehouses, production facilities or offices, it is very difficult to make dramatic changes to the layout of a hospital once it is built. This results in poor patient flow, poor use of space or excessive walking distances becoming set in concrete for many decades. Kaizen Institute introduced the Production Preparation Process (3P) which applies lean principles in early stage design of products, processes and even buildings.
